What is DIT?

DIT, Deaf Institute of Theology, is a program of theological instruction for deaf and hard of hearing Christians who wish to learn more about their faith. There is pre-seminary training for lay people that will prepare them to take a leadership role in their congregation. There are also seminary level classes for those wishing to study for ordination. These classes are all available online. It is strongly recommended that students begin with the pre-seminary level classes. To apply to take DIT pre-seminary classes, go to www.deafleaders.org.

DIT Trains Church Leaders in India and Africa

Rev. Reinke & his son Joshua along with Rev. David Christudoss of India are presenting workshops at the National Deaf Christian Convention being sponsored by the India Evangelical Lutheran Church in March 2006.  Rev. Reinke will be sharing the Deaf Insitute of Theology with the people in India. Rev. Reinke writes:

They think we can take the DIT materials as Christudoss and the other leaders translate them – record sections on tape – then BROADCAST on television in 15 to 30 minute program.   Teaching the deaf and inviting them to join in the study with us!!!  They are talking about taking their DIT to national TV in India!

There is ongoing pre-seminary and seminary training in Ghana. To read more about our work in Ghana, go to http://www.deafjesus.org/GhanaUpdates/GhanaUpdates.html for more information.

Bishop David Tswaede of the Lutheran Church in Southern Africa is bringing a set of DIT materials with him to share them with his deaf nephew and other deaf people in southern Africa.  He has a deaf nephew and niece and is excited about bringing DIT training to the Lutheran Church in Southern Africa.
